Each person has their own unique energy, but if you are looking at people and forming ideas without their input, then your picture of them will invariably be infused with your own energy, your own expectations, your own assumptions.
I have proposed before and will propose again that narcissism may link ultimately to a fear of people, to a chronic and completely unrecognized anxiety which causes people to go into an emotional tuck–to withdraw like a turtle or crab–and never come out.
Ultimately, it is a failure of perception, and I am an optimist in that I always tend to think that better perception is possible for all of us. For those who cultivate curiosity, life never runs out of wonders, and seeing old things anew is one of the best of them.
