Honest blame

It occurs to me that if one single person is most responsible for the death of that woman in Charlottesville, it would be the person–he, she, or it-/who was beating the bumper of the driver. That was a nice car, and he probably assumed the windows were next. He rammed forwards to get room, backed up rapidly and sped away.

I wonder if this person has shed any tears contemplating their direct role in the death of one of their own, or is the hate thick and impermeable enough that nothing is left of nuance, of personal accountability, and of the possibility of conscience?

That is not what happened…at all… have you even taken the time to watch the video of what happened?

Have you? I just watched all the videos I could find. Here is one: https://youtu.be/ta36mZaxiBs

What seems to have happened is he drove down a street blocked by people and multiple vehicles. He was hit on the fender by a person you can see in this video, THEN he accelerated into the cars in front of him–this was certainly intentional–and the woman who was killed was sandwiched in there somewhere. Have you the photos of the people impacted by the front car, or of the woman who was killed?

You need to understand that our media comple does not even REMOTELY feel the need to tell as much of the truth as they know. Bad news sells. Outrage sells. Violence sells. So they take complex narratives that can and should be told from multiple perspectives and boil them down to one simplimistic story that is violent, that makes people angry, and that they can't take their eyes off of, and they put it on loop and laugh all the way to both the ideological and actual banks.

This guy is clearly a disturbed, angry person lacking intelligence, self control, and probably a sense of purpose in life.

But do you seriously think the people carrying bats, wearing masks, and chanting "we own these streets" are in any meaningful respect innocent bystanders?

I read the police were told to stand down: why?

I just rewatched the NBC drone video. Go to the end. The other two cars are still there. And the "iconic" image of people flying is after two their cars have already gone through the crowd after he rammed them as hard and fast as he could.

That is what I see. If you want to post a video I will watch. I am not defending him. I am simply saying that if you seek out provocation and violence, do t act shocked and surprised to find it.

Frankly, it is a testament to what in my view is the superior humanity, self control, and adherence to principle of conservatives that they have not responded more in kind to continual physical and emotional abuse more than they have.

One more comment:,in my view, continued restraint, continued patience, and continued tolerance towards violent thugs who don't deserve it is BY FAR the best policy.

Non-violence is the tool of the morally superior position, and that in my view is what we occupy. The masked goons in the streets: they want nothing but destruction, and that was obviously obvious to enough Americans last fall that they elected Trumo.

And these antics do nothing but reinforce those perceptions. We all hate real white supremacists, who presumably do live under rocks somewhere. But conflating everyone with them, then calling for violence: not a smart strategy.

People can be clearly seen jumping out of the way and there are no brake lights; anybody whose driven near a crowd never has their foot on the accelerator

The bumper strike happens after people are jumping out of the way, meaning the car was still moving at the same speed as the very beginning of the video into the crowd, the strike did not cause the vehicle to move into the crowd as it was already there to begin with

At contact with the Other cars you can clearly see someone pinned between the charger and the next car, not to mention the people trying to get out of the way that get flung off the side of the vehicle, the individual is not the woman who died but it's not like he was slowing down (he stopped because of the mass of the two cars in front him–there are no brake lights continuously on)

There's no way to know if there was any additional acceleration after the bumper strike; but having driven a car that has gotten struck by things (rocks, darting animals) never have I jumped on the gas when it happened, I definitely wouldn't do it around a dense crowd of people

I have no problem with the notion of violence selling and media leveraging it; I do, however, have a problem blaming anyone other than the driver of the vehicle for the injuries and murder since he clearly intended to hit people in the crowd

ps the white supremacists (including the group the driver of the car was pictured walking with) as well as the group who are on video beating a black kid with poles weren't under rocks, they were right out on the streets of Charlottesville

You may be right. Neither of us was there, and it was obviously a chaotic situation, and certainly in the end he clearly was accelerating.

I would ask you, though: out of a nation of 350 million people, is it really anything but stupid to make generalizations about the actions of one or a few dozen individuals?

This guy doesn't represent me or anyone I know. He doesn't represent Trump any more than the people who jack off to pictures of Pol Pot who voted for Hillary represent her.

What IS significant is the substantial and nearly ubiquitous support for violence clearly seen in the Left. No one on the right was calling for Obamas assassination, but it is common to call for that of Trump.

We get a guy who CAREGORICALLY qualifies for the term "domestic terrorist" who brings guns to a GOP baseball practice and tries to kill as many as possible, and paid public commentators lament his poor aim.

This woman's death is a tragedy, and what I suspect was this guy's spontaneous impulse will ruin his life, but if you want to denounce violence, denounce all of it, and stop pretending that you are not trying to hurt people and piss thrm off by equating them with people they loathe, like the KKK, and the Nazis we too grew up hating.

You do not have the moral high ground because a few imbeciles showed their in-breeding in public.

Hate is hate. Violence is violence. Stop preaching and practicing it if you want to condemn it.
