I would like to point out that to support Trump’s impeachment (and almost certain acquittal in the Senate, after deposing under oath everyone who has attacked him) this time around, you would have to believe that investigating corruption is a worse “crime” than actually being corrupt. At least, if the corruption happens overseas, and the person investigating it contacts the country involved where a prosecutor investigating said corruption was fired, seemingly under pressure from the previous Administration, seemingly to kill an investigation, from which any reasonable person would infer there was a crime to be found, and to be hidden..
And I would ask, would those seeking Trump’s impeachment also support actually prosecuting Joe Biden and his son if they were investigated and found guilty? I don’t see anyone calling for an honest investigation, at least not among those screaming for Trump’s head. Would they support impeaching Biden himself if, God forbid, he somehow won the election?
And I would ask: other than the nakedly guilty, what sorts of people would find an investigation more culpable than guilt? Should it be a crime for homicide detectives to investigate people they don’t like, even though evidence of wrong-doing is present? I don’t think any sane person wants to go down that road.
From what’s already in the public domain, with regard to how many people were on the Ukrainian gravy train, and those on the Chinese gravy train, it’s pretty clear something quite malodorous is going on. It’s not rocket science, and no great mystery.
It may or may not be on the technically sunny side of the law, but that favors are being sold and bought seems obvious enough. This is–to state the blindingly obvious–how politicians get rich. They concoct ways to not break the law, but they all let it be known they are for sale. To be a politician of this sort is more or less to be a high priced whore.
I don’t think anyone capable of any vision at all can fail to understand what is being attempted, but I offer these comments solely because I am tired of reading idiotic commentary.
