I recently reached a ledge in my long climb. I rested a moment, and I can now see the next stage in my journey.
There is no down in life, in my view. It is all climb. Every day for the rest of my life I want to express life force in the world, to create something, to think something, to feel something. I want to push on the world, and let the world push on me, until we are rocking happily together in some useful or pleasurable (which often amount to the same thing) activity.
There will come a day when God says you can climb no more on this Earth. Then I will climb somewhere else. This is not, in my view, ambition: it is life.
